Mangalajodi falls in northern edge of Chilika Lake and it's wetlands attracts winter migratory birds. Chilika Lake is the largest brackish water lagoon in Asia and second largest coastal lagoon in the world.

Chilika Lake was designated the first Indian wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention due to its rich biodiversity.

  • Over a million migratory waterfowl and shorebirds winter here.

  • Over 400 vertebrate species have been recorded.

  • As an estuarine lagoon, it supports a unique assemblage of marine, brackish and freshwater species.
